A place held in love

Those Who Should Be Sat Beside Us

Some people may no longer sit beside us, but their place in our hearts remains.

Christmas can make the absence of someone we love feel especially close. This is a gentle place to remember, reflect and feel that they are still part of our Christmas together.

However you are feeling today, you are welcome. There is no right way to grieve, no expectation to share, and no need to explain who you miss.

A moment, just for you

Light a candle in remembrance

If you wish, take a moment for someone on your mind. You can light this little symbolic candle and sit with your thoughts for as long as you need.

Entirely optional. Nothing is shared, submitted or saved.

A place to remember together

Our remembrance trees

There will be a place to leave a memory in our Winter Wonderland at The Grammar. Whether you choose to make something or simply spend a moment beside the trees, you are welcome.

A memory among the branches

Outside in our Winter Wonderland, the Christmas trees will be decorated by our community. Visitors are warmly invited to write the name of someone they are remembering, or a short message, on a remembrance Christmas decoration and add it to the trees. There is no pressure to take part. It is simply a gentle way to remember those who should be sat beside us and make them part of our Christmas together.

  1. 01

    Create a decoration

Join in with a remembrance decoration-making activity inside The Christmas Connection Station.

  2. 02

    Remember in your way

Add a name, a message or just something meaningful. You do not have to explain who you are remembering.

  3. 03

    Make a place for them

Add your decoration to the outdoor remembrance trees in our Winter Wonderland, if you wish.

There is no pressure to join in. You can leave a decoration, stay for a while, or simply walk past. Each choice is enough.

If you need a quieter moment

Remembrance can bring up different feelings, sometimes unexpectedly. You are free to pause, leave this page or step away from an activity at any point.

On the day, the Quiet & Sensory Space is in the signposted Meeting Room inside The Grammar, between the entrance and The Christmas Connection Station.

Loved. Missed. Remembered. Always part of our Christmas.
